Rihanna seems to have gained some new fans on Penticton city council. Council has decided to hold its July 5 meeting in the mid-afternoon to allow at least three council members and one senior city staffer to attend the Rihanna concert that night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Instead of starting at its regular 6 p.m. slot, the council meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Councillors Mike Pearce, Judy Sentes and Andrew Jakubeit said they have bought tickets to the concert. City clerk Cathy Ingram is also planning to attend. Pearce said he promised his daughter and family he would take them to see the Grammy Award-winning singer. Rihanna has included Penticton on her upcoming Last Girl on Earth Tour, the night after a concert at GM Place in Vancouver.
