HST petition delivered to Elections BC

VICTORIA — The harmonized sales tax petition has arrived at Elections BC in Victoria to the delight of a crowd of about 200 petition supporters. The next step is to unload all 85 boxes and begin the count. "Your job is not yet over. Until they say they'll get rid of the HST, we'll have to keep fighting," petition leader and former premier Bill Vander Zalm said as he stood in the back of a truck. The combined provincial-federal, 12-per-cent sales tax kicks in tomorrow across the province. The petition has some 700,000 signatures.
