Possible Effect on the Revenues of the City of Vernon of the BCLC ONLINE Casino. (And a reduction in our Carbon Footprint)

The first smaller tables (Click to enlarge) are the Casino Win for all the Casinos in the BCLC empire. The second table breakdowns the HOST Government Share (i.e what the Local City receives for having a Casino within their boundaries.) These figures are for the 2009 fiscal year that ended on March 31,2010.

Only Langley, Burnaby and Vernon Casinos had an INCREASE in their WIN revenue. Only Burnaby and Vernon had an increased share of this win. Burnaby increased by $380,000 and Vernon increased by $279,000.
Vernon's share is the result of the expanded Casino that increased the # of slots from 220 to 406 in June of 2009.

--------------
The Larger table gives an analysis of the slot and table revenue for Vernon over the last 10 years. The local Casino has eliminated manned Gaming Tables (no more blackjack dealers or Roulette croupiers) (Net loss of local employment)

This elimination will cause the type of gambler who likes to play cards etc. against other players and a dealer to exit the Casino and seek this type of action elsewhere. He (or she) will gravitate to either other Casinos within the Valley who still have the manned tables available or he will eventually go the Online Casino.

Regardless, this revenue to the Local Casino and to the Host Government (Vernon) will evaporate and our 30 pieces of silver will shrink.

If this $1,500,000 of Table winnings disappear then Vernon's yearly cut of 6% or $90,000 will also disappear. The beneficiaries of this will be the online Casino where the Pr. Govt . will take 100% of the net earnings. (There is no municipal cut in this newly formed enterprise).

There will also be the long tern effect that future younger customers who have grown up with a cyberspace electronic culture and Texas Hold-em Poker dreams will forgo land based Casinos and gravitate to the more comfortable and addicting online gambling portals. This will reduce their carbon footprint and help us meet our Global Warming Targets as they retreat to the safety of their computers and blackberries etc. and reduce their automotive treks to their local casinos. The TDM people will be able to claim a reduction of automotive trips within the Regional District and we may win another award .

Beside the table game drift, I foresee more of a customer drift to the Online Casino especially when the Poker Tables are added in December. (These will Augment the Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and Slots that will be available). I would be willing to bet that Vernon's net loss will be a minimum of $200,000 per year once the Online Casino has been in operation for a full year. (July 2011).
