Westside Fire

Vernon RCMP say four mobile homes have been destroyed in a fire at a trailer park in the 12-thousand block of Westside Road. Black smoke could be seen in the skies over the hill west of Swan Lake on Friday afternoon. Spokesperson Gord Molendyk says all of the families have been safely evacuated from the properties, on Okanagan Indian Band territory, and will be cared for by Social or Emergency Services. The number of people removed from the scene is not known although some are said to be quite elderly. An OKIB fire crew fought the blaze.
