The Okanagan Indian Band will be supporting Stewart Phillip for president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. An election will be held at the group's annual general assembly next month in Vancouver. Okanagan Chief Fabian Alexis says Phillip (pictured) has the knowledge, experience and integrity for the position, and never quits "when things get tough." Alexis also says Phillip has the passion to resolve land issues, and a boldness to protect indigenous title. Phillip is completing his fourth term as president.Wayne Christian, chief of the Enderby area Splats'in First Nation, also plans to run for president which carries a three year term.
