Vernon police have been getting calls about screams and cars speeding in the downtown. But RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk says it's nothing to worry about. The film company, "TypeCast", is shooting a police type movie in downtown Vernon. Filming runs Tuesday night at the Parkade and Wednesday night at the Tim Horton's on Highway 6.

It might not be a cause for concern if you hear some strange noises or see some fast moving vehicles in downtown Vernon the next few nights. It could be coming from a movie being shot at several sites including the Parkade, the Tolko office, and the Diner next to Tim Hortons on Highway 6. The RCMP's Gord Molendyk says the police themed movie put on by Typecast --which doesn't feature any big name stars-- is being shot at night. "There's likely to be some screams and some vehicles speeding. Things like that." Molendyk says police had some calls Sunday night after people heard screams which turned out to be connected to the movie being directed by Michael Poirier.

Molendyk didn't know if it was a U-S or Canadian production, but says former Vernon Mountie Terry Packenham is doing some advisory work on the film, regarding forensics. According to call sheets provided by the production company to police, the five days of shooting will wrap up Wednesday night.
