Fire in Ok Landing Update

Okanagan Landing Fire Dept

---------------------------------------

The Vernon and Okanagan Landing fire departments worked together to douse what could have been a problematic fire this afternoon. It was at the corner of Tronson and Lakeshore Roads, near Kin Beach, starting just after 4:30PM. Landing fire chief Ed Forslund tells KISS FM, it started in some grass on private property. "We hit it hard, we had lots of manpower and equipment and fortunately we were able to knock it down fairly quick, and there was virtually no wind, so we were able to contain it fairly quick." He says it consumed a 50 by 50 metre area of grass and the wheels of a work trailer. Forslund says the cause is under investigaiton but it appeared to be human caused. "All I can rule out is lightning."
