Grassfire in Okanagan Landing

Fire crews in the North Okanagan managed to douse a grassfire before it could turn ugly early Monday morning. A team of 16 firefighters took three hours to fully extinguish the 50 metre fire in the 3700 block of Okanagan Landing Road around midnight. Fire Chief Ed Forselund says this fire could have been human-caused: "There were reports from witnesses that just before the fire was reported, they saw flares and fireworks in the area. So, that is a real concern." Forselund tells us the winds died down and some rain came down while they fought last night's fire.He says without those weather conditions, the blaze could have been much worse.
