Residents of the North Okanagan and Shuswap will be able to report criminal activity with just the click of a mouse. North Okanagan-Shuswap Crime Stoppers has launched a new website at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
“You can do a tip right from there and the tip is secure,” said spokesman Gord Molendyk, adding that he has no way of tracing the origins of the tip. “I have no way of connecting it back to you. It’s totally anonymous.” The website is just another way for law enforcement to keep in contact with the public. “A good portion of tips come from the Shuswap so we hope this will move us forward,” said Molendyk. Besides reporting information about crimes, the website will provide details about individuals wanted by the police and the Crime Stoppers program. “We are going to start promoting that website,” said Molendyk. “Our website also has links to Facebook and Twitter. When there are missing people or unsolved crimes, people can use this social media.”
