Teen robbed after giving ride

Doing a good deed backfired for a north Okanagan teen over the weekend. Early Sunday morning, a 17-year-old Vernon male told police he had been robbed and had his vehicle stolen after he gave a ride to a stranger. The teen told police he had been driving on 25 Avenue when he was flagged down in front of Lincoln Lanes. “The unknown male asked him if he knew where Okanagan Avenue was. He said he did, the male offered him $20 for a ride there. When they arrived on Okanagan Avenue, the suspect male asked him to pull over. At this point, the suspect pulled out a large knife,” says RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. He says the suspect then yelled 'give me everything you have.' “The victim jumped from the car and ran. The suspect drove off with the vehicle, a gold Mazda 626, B.C. license plate 728REL, along with his wallet and ID,” says Molendyk. Molendyk says the suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid 20's, with possibly some facial hair, approximately 160 lbs. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark jeans.
