Vernon Drug Problem

Some shocking numbers from City of Vernon safety patrols. Community Policing co-ordinator Rachael Zubick says that patrols this summer picked up almost 300 crack cocaine bags and 42 crack pipes. She says, "We have a drug problem. We always have had a drug problem. It's as simple as that." Zubick says that she had expected more to be found.
She says there are far few hypodermic needles being discarded by drug addicts. A total of 104 was found by staff during the months of June, July and August. The safety patrols ended last Friday.
Zubick says tagging continues to be a problem...those are the small spray-paint marks left all around the city by vandals. She says 966 tags were found over the summer on government and business properties.

We have a drug problem because we are enabling these people to do drugs here. The mission feeds them daily giving them no reason to decide betweeen drugs or food. The "street nurses" give out needles etc to them so they can continue their habit. Not a surprise at all to me.....
