The Vernon Women's Centre is in need of donations as a result of a busier than normal summer. Project coordinator Jody Furneaux says their drop-in program has seen more than 217 women over the past month. That's left the basic supplies they give out at drastically low levels. The centre is asking for new or partially used shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, razors, hair styling products, laundry detergent, sugar and coffee whitener. Donations can be dropped off at the Centre at 3309 32nd Avenue by the Kiss FM building. Hours are 10 am to noon and 1 to 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Centre offers a variety of programs and services including legal advocacy, women's empowerment group sessions, laundry, practical and emotional support, information and referral.
