High level talks continue over the financial burden carried by the City of Vernon due to high policing costs. Mayor Wayne Lippert met this week with Superintendent Don Harrison of the Southeast District. A Vernon staff report says the City is subsidizing other communities and electoral areas covered by the North Okanagan integrated detachment. Lippert says the police have their own problems with the system and want changes to more effectively use their officers. Lippert's next meeting on the topic takes place next week. He meets Solicitor General Mike de Jong at the UBCM convention in Whistler.
