Crash Kills Teen

A Shuswap teenager was the victim of a crash on Highway 97-A north of Enderby Wednesday night. Police say a head-on collision occurred between a southbound Dodge pick up and a northbound Pontiac car. A secondary crash then occurred between the Dodge and a northbound pick-up. The driver of the car, a 17 year old Salmon Arm boy, died at the scene. The other two drivers, a 38 year old Kelowna man, and a 30 year old Armstrong man, were treated and released from hospital with minor injuries. Sergeant Keith Ferguson of the North Okanagan Traffic Service says no names are being released at this time. "Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or observed the vehicles prior to the collision, to contact Vernon RCMP at 250 545 7171." The highway was closed for about four hours as a result of the crash that occurred at 11:50 PM near the intersection of Old Salmon Arm Road.
