A Vernon woman has started a petition to get lighting installed at the BX Ranch Dog Park. Monique Lamoureux says especially in the winter months dog owners have a hard time exercising their dogs in the daylight hours. She says right now dog owners have to exercise their dogs on the streets, or using the headlights from their car, adding both are dangerous for a variety of reasons. Lamoureax's plan is to form a committee once she gets enough signatures and then take the request to the city. She's about a third of the way to her goal of 500 signatures. Lamoureax says fundraisers are already being put together.

To have one lit park in Vernon where a woman could go for a run with her dog makes sense.
As a woman, I would not walk my dog in dark places. When the time change comes it will be hard for most working women to avoid walking in the dark.
Bunch of nonsense-there is a limit as to what the taxpayer will be able to afford
