Ball Diamonds and Track Stay Betty Selin 10/15/2010 105.7 SUNFM:
The Okanagan Equestrian Society has come up with their own plan for re-development at Kin Race Track. President ed Woolley says their plan would preserve the track and ball diamonds, ad a gym or ice rink, an outdoor equestrian arena, a farmers market, and improve the parking. Woolley says it's a better use of the land and more affordable. He says initial response seemed to be positive. Woolley is hoping to have a public input session next month.

I used to frequent the farmer's market at the old location. The trees provided relief from the summer sun and the creek-side location added an aesthetic dimension which made shopping a relaxing experience.
The new location is unpleasant for so many reasons. Perhaps this new plan can move the venue closer to the creek and there could be some trees and picnic tables.
Last time I went there were three amped musical groups. The cacophony made my shopping trip short.
Finally someone is making use of their grey matter and proposing something that satisfies all concerns. Plus, with some new facilities the fabulous horse-racing will be re-invigorated.
C'mon guys if you can get it together this City will finally have some facilities that it can be proud of.
When will Woolley quit-they have had their chance, they have no justification for continuing to use the Kin site and the entire site is needed for Parks and Rec purposes. The fuss that they have made in the past about ballplayers crossing the race track, the objections they made when the site was being considered for indoor soccer, and their financial situation leaves little credibility with this group.
