RV Sites At O'Keefe Ranch

Peter McIntyre Thursday, 28 October 2010 09:25 107.5 KISSFMO'Keefe RanchAfter years of planning, the historic O'Keefe Ranch has got the go ahead to add campsites for recreational vehicles.  Vernon city councillor Mary Jo O'Keefe says the plan is to have at least ten sites ready for next summer.  "It will give them an additional source of funding for the future, so that's a positive move. O'Keefe, who is council's rep on the city owned attraction's board, says a bridge connecting the parking lot to the sites, will be done this fall.  She says the RV sites will fit in well with the agricultural heritage of the cash-strapped ranch which is located in Spallumcheen.  "They're having discussions with other bed and bail places to see how they're set up, to see how big the sizes are and what the horses need." O'Keefe says the sites could be designed for the equestrian community travelling to horse shows. The Ranch was founded in 1867, and in its earliest days was at the end of the wagon road into the Okanagan Valley and the site of the stage coach depot.

Don't forget about the "campground" across from Kal Tire too

Moot points. I don't think I've seen campers of the equine variety at either locations.

10 sites is not nearly enough. If you want the Ranch to stop being a burden on Vernon taxpayers, then you need a full size rv park so money can be made to help the ranch.
