Coldstream council is tackling it's budget and Mayor Jim Garlick says they've had some success in holding the line. "We brought it down considerably. There's considerable increases around policing and we're using the police reserve to offset that somewhat. We are around I believe a couple percent increase." The mayor says the hard part is a 1.2 percent hike for the new transit maintenance facility in Vernon. "That's a hard one to get rid of." Garlick adds, what may help is an increase in the area population, meaning an increase in revenue.
