CraigMcInnes 9 Nov 2010 Van Sun:
Solicitor General Rich Coleman says it's OK to have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and then drive home. You might just get away with it. But according to an online calculator (see below) created by an anti-drinking and driving group in the UK, a 120 pound woman who consumes two average sized glasses of wine in an hour will blow over the .05 limit. If she were pulled over on the way home, that would be an expensive meal. Her car would likely be towed and impounded. She would lose her licence for a three days and then have to pay to get it back. She would be fined. Of course, she could try telling the officer that Coleman said it was OK, but under the new law, the police officer is also her judge and jury. This calculator might be wrong, of course. Everyone is different. Coleman might be right.
So go ahead, you might get lucky.
