Okanagan Business Stalls Over Leadership Race - Vernon mayor points to ministerial cancellations

The whole of the Okanagan Valley has been affected by the provincial Liberal leadership race, according to Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert. He says a symposium on transportation and transit throughout the Valley, which was to have been attended by the transportation minister and held before Xmas, has been delayed until sometime in the new year.  The mayor also believes concerns expressed by Vernon, over the spiralling cost of an integrated RCMP detachment, have been put on the back burner by the province. And Ben Stewart's move out of the Ministry of Community and Rural Development has meant cancellation of another minister's visit to Vernon before Christmas. Lippert says indications are there will be no movement by the province on the Greater Vernon water governance issue until after the leadership race.
