BCAA offers members a Safe-Ride-Home

Members of the B.C. Automobile Association have a new option for a ride home for the next three months.  The BCAA began offering the Safe-Ride-Home program Wednesday for a three-month trial period to members who are prevented from driving home by an injury, medical condition or alcohol consumption. BCAA spokesman Trace Acres said a similar program has been offered year-round by Quebec CAA since 2006.  Safe-Ride-Home will get drivers, and their vehicles home. "The idea here is that this is a program for people who want to get themselves and their car home,” said Acres. The service, which includes towing a vehicle home, counts as one of each member’s annual service calls. Basic membership entitles people to four service calls a year.  BCAA receives about 500,000 calls for service annually.
