Big Water Hikes For Other Areas

It's apparent water rates are going up all over the North Okanagan. Herman HalvorsonNorth Okanagan Regional District chairman Herman Halvorson says Grindrod and Mable Lake water  will be going to a hearing over theirs on February 4th. "They can go over the rates and see if they can find a way to reduce these rates. The rates have gone up substantially from $226 a year, to $450 a year for residential use." Halvorson says they're also facing a parcel tax of 861 dollars to pay down the water plant with 7 years left.The Gunther-Ellison district, to the west of Enderby has a parcel tax of $1,331 dollars, plus a residential user rate going from $251 to $1,582 a year, something the residents have agreed to.
