It's time to face up to the problems and deal with them. That's the take of Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick on the topic of the disfunction of the parks and rec service..Garlick says the public needs to realize parks is a very fragmented service. He says they are exploring how to get the negotiations moving and it make take them putting in a formal withdraw request. Garlick admits every time power struggles like this come up - so does the idea of amalgamation, but he says that is also not the solution.

Interesting move, Mayor Jim.
This is tantamount to calling a bluff in a high stakes poker game.
And really, it has needed to be done with the City bullies for some time.
It's kindergarten where they teach you the laws of the playground; play nice and share. Seems to have been forgotten by these "adult" politicians. Ironic that the law of the playground wouldn't apply to Parks and Recreation????
Long overdo....local parks need to be responsive to local needs. Let Coldstream determine if, where and when for those facilities used principally by their residents. The regional facilties can be cost shared.
