Council remuneration to be reviewed

The yearly remuneration payed to Kelowna's mayor and council is about to go under review.  Council is expected to approve the striking of a task force to look into councillor's annual remuneration. Three years ago Kelowna City Council endorsed a recommendation from the task force to establish a review process in the first quarter of the final year of the council term. Currently, the mayor earns $87,902 annually, $29,300 or which is non taxable while councillors receive $30,765 a year with $10,255 of that non taxable. It is expected the task force would be appointed in February with the review to take place in March and April. A final recommendation would come before council in May.
