Residential Water Rates Proposed and accepted Jan 19 at GVSC.

Water Calculator for Proposed 2011 Rates as passed at GVSC Jan 19

The water rates were changed from the last proposal to give a greater certainty to revenue stream by increasing the base rate each quarter for a residential customer to $66.20 and lowering the rates per m3 for each block of consumption.

While this gives greater certainly to cover the fixed costs of the utility it has brought in the LUC factor.  (Law of Unexpected Consequences.)

The chart on the left show the $ increase for the Average, Low, Medium and High user. It is ironic that the person who consumes 80m3 annually will have a rate increase of $118.12 (58.86%) while the average user who consumes more than 4 times as much or 350m3 annually will have a rate increase of $94.37 (19.64%).

Go to water calculator to punch in your consumption numbers and see what your water rate increase will be.
(by the way the medium user is Don Quixote)
