It's taken about a year, but charges have now been laid in a bizarre crash in Vernon's East Hill that saw a truck embedded in a house. Police tried to pull over a pickup truck on January 31, 2010 but it sped away, and was not pursued. A few minutes later, the truck was located slammed into a house in the 2200 block of 24th Avenue where two people were asleep at the time.They were not injured but the stolen truck was demolished and the house had 100-thousand dollar damage. The RCMP's Gord Molendyk says they now have a suspect. "There was a break in the case. They (officers) were looking for this individual who took off from the scene, so they were trying to establish identity, which took a little bit of time." Robert Antonin Andel, a North Okanagan resident, who is currently in custody on another matter, is charged with dangerous driving and possession of stolen property.
