Truck in House Leads To Charges

Truck In HouseIt's taken about a year, but charges have now been laid in a bizarre crash in Vernon's East Hill that saw a truck embedded in a house.  Police tried to pull over a pickup truck on January 31, 2010 but it sped away, and was not pursued.  A few minutes later, the truck was located slammed into a house in the 2200 block of 24th Avenue where two people were asleep at the time.
They were not injured but the stolen truck was demolished and the house had 100-thousand dollar damage.  The RCMP's Gord Molendyk says they now have a suspect.  "There was a break in the case. They (officers) were looking for this individual who took off from the scene, so they were trying to establish identity, which took a little  bit of time."  Robert Antonin Andel, a North Okanagan resident, who is currently in custody on another matter, is charged with dangerous driving and possession of stolen property.  A court date has not yet been determined.
