City and CUPE set to meet again

CUPE Local 608 and the City of Penticton will be back at the bargaining table Thursday in an effort to try and reach a collective agreement. CUPE 608 president Patti Finch, in a press release, says they are stepping up efforts to reach an agreement. In a release issued by the City earlier this month, it stated CUPE rejected the City's latest contract offer. The contract included a wage freeze for all employees in 2011. All current employees would keep their existing wages and benefits, but newly-hired workers would be paid substantially less.  CUPE senior negotiator Tom O'Leary will be at the bargaining table Thursday and Friday to help with talks.
