Curl BC gets $5,000 to host the Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men's Curling Championship Feb 7-13 at the Vernon Curling Club. The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club gets $15,000 to host the Sparkling Hill Masters World Cup 2011 March 3-11. The BC Lacrosse Association receives $10,000 to stage the BCLA Minor Box Lacrosse Provincial Championships in July. Foster says, "Hosting events like these provide an excellent opportunity for us to show our hospitality and encourage tourism in our area. The events will also be fun for families and help to get our children interested in sports."

Dollars For Sporting Events
Vernon is getting some provincial funds to help put on three sporting championships this year.
