Greens Attract Multiple Candidates A three-way race to be the next Green Party Candidate in Okanagan-Shuswap.

It’s a three-way race to be the next Green Party Candidate in Okanagan-Shuswap. From Notch Hill west of Salmon Arm, Chris George is taking a break from 20 years as a restaurant entrepreneur in a bid to carry the torch for Greens. “We’re running out of time on the environment. We need to take action. Sending a Green to Ottawa is the most powerful statement the people of this riding can make.” Recently arrived from Abbottsford where she received an award for Woman of the Year and another for Arts Advocate, Karen Durant is challenging the nomination from Enderby. Karen urges voters “to consider how important it is to work together as a team to make sure there is a future of clean air, clean water, happy farmers, good health care, and social services that protect the impoverished, mentally ill and addicted”. Karen ran as a Green candidate in the last federal election.Seeking to carry the Green banner from Coldstream, retired lawyer Greig Crockett anticipates an energetic debate in the race for candidate. “Opinion surveys increasingly demonstrate the top concern for Canadians is the environment and a sustainable economy. The Green Party enables voters to put action into those concerns at election time.”

Speeches and voting will be conducted at two Nomination Meetings, both beginning at 7pm.  Wednesday, March 2nd, at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery and   Thursday, March 3rd, the winner will be announced at the Vernon Schubert Centre.
