Premier Christy Clark has introduced a leaner cabinet that she says will focus on jobs and families, but the N-D-P says it's just a rehash of the Gordon Campbell line-up. The new cabinet features 18 members, five less than under Campbell, with Kevin Falcon as finance minister, replacing Colin Hansen, who was dropped from cabinet entirely after having the job of introducing the unpopular H-S-T. Mike de Jong is health minister, George Abbott is back in education, Barry Penner takes on the job of attorney general, Mary McNeil is children's minister and Rich Coleman heads up energy. Blair Lekstrom, who quit cabinet over the H-S-T last fall, has returned as transportation minister, while Terry Lake takes over environment and Steve Thomson becomes forests minister. Clark says her government will put families at the centre of policy decisions, adding that jobs are the foundation of families and that's why she's created a new ministry of jobs, tourism in innovation, headed by Pat Bell. The N-D-P is not impressed by the new cabinet, with leadership candidate Adrian Dix saying it represents little change from the Campbell era, and interim N-D-P leader Dawn Black expressing disappointment Clark has no plan yet to recall the legislature.
