Controversial company opens in Okanagan

A company that sells water filtration system and has been accused of using scare tactics on potential customers has just opened its doors in the Okanagan.  Simple H2O tests the quality of tap water but its chemical test has come under fire for turning normal minerals in the water into solids, making the water appear much worse than it really is.  A Kelowna man who was a former trainee for the company says he was taught to target families and senior citizens to replace tap water with a water filtration system that costs upwards of $7,000.  The former trainee backed away from the sales program when he saw a CBC Marketplace report about Simple H2O and accusations it is misleading potential customers.  Simple H2O, however, says it gives a straight-forward presentation.  The company defends their system and sales technique and will proceed with sales in the Okanagan.  The Better Business Bureau gave Simple H2O an F rating on a scale from A+ to F.  According to the consumer watchdog, the company had six complaints filed against them and failed to respond to five of them.

Don Quixote Note: At 2:20 PM This Saturday afternoon Apr. 30 received the phone call from the Simple H2O company telling me I had been selected to get a free water test. I had seen the video that is referred to at http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/blog/2011/03/an-update-on-clean-water-dirty-tricks.html
and declined the offer.
