Fast food giant enters HST debate

Ronald McDonald looks like he's getting into the debate over the harmonized sales tax. McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Ltd. has hired government relations consultant Bruce Young to lobby the province about the tax. The company hasn't yet responded to a request for comment on that lobbying or its position regarding the HST. But the restaurant industry has opposed the tax. And, according to a record filed with the lobbyist registry last week, McDonald's wants to provide the Clark administration with "information" pertaining to the government's "HST information campaign" and "consultation process."
