Opposition to Games Bid

Greater Vernon may make a bid for the 2015 BC Seniors Games, but some local politicians are not backing the idea.  G-VAC has agreed to apply for the event, contingent on the development of a track and field facility. Coldstream director Gyula Kiss (pictured) was opposed to showing an interest, when the idea for a facility is in doubt. "It was rejected by the agricultural land commission and you need the track and field in order to carry on. The only alternative was to send the track and field to Kelowna". Without a track, 17 percent of the games participants would have to play--and stay-- in Kelowna.  Area C director Mike Macnabb also opposed the motion for the same reason.
