Another scam is making the rounds--this one offering people a power saving device. Police say a company out of Mississauga Ontario is calling residents and businesses--including one in Armstrong--offering the 'Power Saver One', which they claim can reduce power use by 40 to 50 percent. They also say the price has been reduced from 500...to 198 dollars. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says a person from the electronics industry says there is no such device on the market, and the Internet is full of warnings about the scam. "The person who called the police office wished this matter be reported for information purposes as the scam has surfaced in our area. A resident of the Armstrong area was contacted by a company who claiming they would come and activate it for them at a price of $180."
