Regional District Directors are Split Again - Still no resolution on governance and the voting structure

Taxpayers are going to be footing the bill for another service review because there's still no resolution to the fight over governance and the voting structure at the North Okanagan Regional District.  Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert says it's been going on for the six years he's been in office and staff can't do proper planning for things like water until this issue is resolved.  Lippert says the majority - but not Vernon, Lumby and Spallumcheen  - have voted to scrap the current review and start a new one. He says it will cost another 30 to 50-thousand dollars. He wants the provincial government to step in and at least put some timelines in place.

End the Maddness! The province hopefully will step in and see the current situation and force this area into amalgamation. We can't continue to throw money away on infighting and indecision amoungst all the numerous levels of governments. It is a bad joke waiting to be put out of its misery. This area is small enough to be run by one central government and does not need all the seperate entities that we now have jockeying for position and screwing over the taxpayer.

How come Betty only consulted with Mayor Lippert? Perhaps interviewing some of the other participants could make the report more balanced. Of course, Bill's mind is already made up and his amalgamation fantasy would not change but still good reporting would suggest a balanced approach.
