Takedown at gunpoint in Vernon

Police conducted a takedown at gunpoint on Highway 6 in Vernon Friday night.  RCMP pulled over a pick-up truck at gunpoint and arrested three men after they received a complaint that someone was firing weapons near residences and a farm on the King Edward Forest Service Road.  Officers conducted what’s described as a high risk code five takedown.  A search of the vehicle found a loaded rifle and dozens of rounds of ammunition.  The driver was issued a roadside suspension for blowing over the limit. As a result of the investigation, the owner of the rifle surrendered four weapons, including a handgun. The charges include careless use of a weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
