Another effort to draw attention to the patient overcrowding at Vernon Jubilee Hospital takes place on Friday. Nurses and other staff will rally just outside the hospital around 12:30 pm. BC Nurses Union regional chair Christine Sorenson, who will be attending, says nurses at VJH face too many patients in less than adequate conditions. ``On the wards in the hospital we have patients sleeping in hallways or in alcoves with screens tucked around them for privacy,'' describes Sorenson. Nurses, says Sorenson, may be working on a daily basis with more patients than can comfortably and safely be provided with care. The nurses will tie a big purple ribbon around a tree in front of the hospital, a symbol of their purple ribbon campaign to encourage the public to get involved in the debate.
