The Vernon Vipers are into the final of the Royal Bank Cup, with a chance to win a record third straight national title and the 7th in franchise history. The BCHL, and Doyle Cup champs improved their record to 5 and 0 in Camrose Alberta with a 4-1 win over the ellington Dukes of Ontario in Saturday's first semi final. Vernon led 2-0 going into the third on two goals from Bryce Kakoske when former Viper Elliott Richardson made it 2-1, beating standout goalie Kirby Halcrow on a fluky bouncer from center. However, a few minutes later Patrick McGillis scored his team high 4th goal of the tournament and captain Dave Robinson iced it with an empty netter in the final minute. Vernon will play the winner of Saturday night's second semi final, either the host Camrose Kodiaks (3-1) or the Pembroke Lumber Kings (1-3) in Sunday's final, which will be at 5PM. Listen for the play by play of Todd Miller and Don Klepp starting at 4:45 on Kiss FM. TSN will show the game on a tape delayed basis at 8 PM The city of Vernon will hold a welcome home celebration for the Vipers Tuesday at noon at Spirit Square next to City Hall.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
