Kelowna City Council highlights by Contributed - Castanet May 31, 2011 / 12:30 pm
Drinking Water Filtration - City staff will apply to Interior Health Authority for Filtration Deferral and Drinking Water Source Protection. IH’s expectation of a drinking water filtration system can be deferred if the utility currently meets conditions such as consistent water quality standard and has a plan to construct filtration infrastructure if required. Council also directed staff to amend the Water Regulation Bylaw to finance a future water filtration system.
2011 Water Rates - Council approved an increase in overall water utility revenue of 11 per cent to meet operation needs for maintenance and capital improvements. The increase – $2.64 a month for a single-family account – will come into effect in July.
