Woman of the Year

Vernon Women in Business held its Woman of the Year banquet last night, picking Min Sidhu as this year's recipient.Sidhu is being recognized for her professional and personal commitment in 14 years as the administrator of the Vernon Monashee MLA constituency office, helping find and maintain funding for local non profit organizations such as the Transition House, Junction Literacy, Kindale and the Salvation Army. Sidhu, a mother of three daughters, arrived in the city 18 years ago from London England with her husband Sid and began their family business, the Bella Vista Farm Market. She's the 24th recipient of the honor, and among other things receives a city parking pass, and a diamond ring from Gregory's Fine Jewellery. Sidhu was one of ten nominees. The others were Janet Green, Lorraine Johnson Brotsky,  Lisa Kongsdorf, Ruth Kovacs, Judith Lanaway, Renee Leveille, Lydia Phillips, Debra Pool and Deb White.  About 300 people took part in the event at the Best Western Vernon Lodge Thursday night.
