Bootsma won’t seek re-election

Marty Bootsma’s plans for November include cleaning out his desk.  The Salmon Arm mayor quietly announced to the press after Monday’s council meeting that he would not be seeking re-election in the November municipal election.  In his usual fashion, Bootsma kept his comments – made solely to the media – brief and to the point.  “I just wanted to announce it to give any other potential candidates an opportunity to get their ducks in a row,” said Bootsma. “I enjoyed my time but it’s time for me to move on.”  Bootsma has served four terms with Salmon Arm council, two of those as mayor.
