I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT COUNCIL COULD CONSIDER THE EXPENDITURE OF $868,000 ON SUCH A FOOLISH PROJECT. IF THIS GOES THROUGH IT PROVES THAT COUNCIL DOES WHATEVER STAFF REQUESTS.JUST WAIT UNTIL THE TAXPAYERS RESPOND TO THIS WASTE OF MONEY IF IT IS APPROVED.

Stupid-43rd "diet" and the Budgen rezoning for two four plexes

I agree, the 43rd Ave diet is a total waste of money and should not be supported regardless of the source of funding.

Likewise, the rezoning application on 25th Ave should not be supported. Most of the East Hill area is zoned single family and it should remain that way. Two four-unit buildings on this lot would completely change the character of the surrounding area. It would also set a precedent for the whole area.

"Road Diet" is one thing, but taking away left turns and thereby reducing the number of alternate routes is quite another!

For those who come from Bella Vista /Landing area and take Alexis Park as a back route, turning LEFT from 43rd ave onto 31st Street lets you avoid Hwy 97, if you are on your way to the mall or Anderson or North Vernon shopping areas or Silver Star.

This 43rd Ave Road Diet proposes to PREVENT the left turn from 43rd Ave to 31st St by installing one of those concrete "absences of logic".

Preventing this left turn would either force more traffic onto Hwy 97, or force traffic to continue farther down 43rd Ave and then turn onto the newly narrowed 29th Street, or continue all the way to 27th Street - all of this traffic should be avoided, don't you think, as it pretty much defeats the purpose of the 43rd Ave Road Diet!

Let's hope the City's transportation experts - and our elected decision-makers - can grasp the impact of preventing left turns for ALL routes, not just for a few short blocks of 43rd Ave.

A graph that shows the number of accidents along 43rd Ave from 27th Street to 32nd Street (Hwy 97) is simply not sufficient justification for such a project, and does not address the BIG picture nor our local traffic patterns.

Is it any wonder we residents are shaking our heads?
