Vernon Man's Baby Gift Not So Innocent, say RCMP

It could be considered a pot cover-up fail. A Vernon man was speeding down Highway 97 near Lodge Road on June 16th when he was pulled over by the Kelowna RCMP's Central Okanagan Traffic Services. Cst. Steve Holmes says it quickly became apparent, this wasn't a normal traffic stop. ``While dealing with the 31-year-old driver, the officer detected the unmistakeable odour of vegetative marjuana, the smell of it coming from within the vehicle,'' says Holmes. ``This prompted the officer to have grounds to place the driver under arrest for possession of a controlled substance.'' Holmes says one pound of marijuana was located inside a shoe box, gift wrapped with paper featuring soothers and yellow rubber duckies. The 31 year old faces a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking and will make his first court appearance in September.
