In an effort to reduce caseload pressures, a new provincial court judge has been appointed for Vernon, Attorney General Barry Penner has announced. Mayland McKimm will begin his new post on August 15. McKimm's appointment will help reduce the caseload pressures while Penner works toward keeping a balanced budget.McKimm, chair of the Legal Services Society until earlier this year, and a board member since 2003, practices mostly criminal and family law. The Victoria resident began his law career in 1984 at McKimm & Lott in Sidney after receiving his law degree from Northwestern University in Chicago.
