Some Falkland residents would like transit service to Vernon. The Columbia Shuswap Regional District's Manager of Financial Services says a study will take nine months and, with everything considered, the earliest residents could take the bus to Vernon would be 2013. Peter Jarman told the CSRD's board of directors that the district would look at things such as buying a bus or using one from Vernon. He suggested that even "carpooling could achieve the same effect." The board has okayed $12,500 towards a study while the province puts in another $10,000. Area D Director Rene Talbot says a Falkland resident put together a petition with 180 names of people who would be interested in using the service.

Perhaps a simple solution would be to lease a couple of Vans and make it a user pay cost.
Why is it that if someone chooses to live in a specific area everyone else should have to subsidize their lifestyle?
