1,500 water meters installed in Kamloops.

The new rate structure will have three components, including a fixed-base capital charge of $256 a year and a fixed base-consumption charge of $144 a year.  The city will give an allotment of 500 litres per day, or 45,000 litres per quarter, during the fall and winter months and another 1,000 litres per day, or 90,000 during the spring and summer quarters.  There will also be a new variable consumption charge of 65 cents to $1 per 1,000 litres of water consumed above the base allotment.  The cost of the entire water-meter project is $11.5 million .
