Bus in Lake - Update: stolen limo bus dunked

RCMP say the 20-passenger limo bus had been stolen from Kelowna early Sunday morning and all indicators suggest the bus was dumped into Okanagan Lake on purpose. "So far it looks like the vehicle has gone straight over the cliff, there is no indication of it going over at an angle as if it was driving along the roadway," says RCMP Collision Analyst Sgt. Brian Nightingale."The unfortunate part is we're in a location where we have a fair number of collisions, so we have to treat it as a potential motor vehicle collision until we learn otherwise."Until a dive team assesses the scene, RCMP can not confirm whether or not anyone is on board the bus. The modified Ford F550 Coach limo owned by Sun Valley Limousine was worth approximately $100,000.

A search is underway after a small bus went over a 30 metre cliff and ended up submerged in Okanagan Lake, near Bear Creek Park off of Westside Road. RCMP have their boat on scene and officers are scouring the shoreline for survivors.  It is not known if anyone was in the bus when it went over the edge. We do know the air bags were deployed. The vehicle was spotted around 9:30 a.m. Sunday August 28. A Castanet reporter is on location and we will have more details as the story develops. It is the same location where a Cadillac went into the lake earlier this year, the driver did not survive.
