It's the 118th running of the Vernon Cup at Kin Race Track this Sunday. Horse racing is late this year. Due in part, says lawyer Ed Woolley, to the late adjournment of a trial that has the Okanagan Equestrian Society pitted against the City of Vernon and the North Okanagan Regional District. Could this be the last year of racing at Kin? Woolley says, " Well I'm hoping not obviously.'' He says a trial is expected next spring. And there is a haystack of information for the court, some dating back to when the track began in the 1800s. Perhaps a glimmer of hope? Woolley says there has been some progress at informal talks with municipal officials although he couldn't guess the outcome. Parks boss Al McNiven confirms those talks but says there has been no resolution to the issue. A second race day will take place on September 11th.
