The Schubert Centre Society has resurrected a plan to build a senior's complex in the 35-hundred block of 30th Avenue. The proposal would use a slice of Luc Girrard Park for part of the building. Mayor Wayne Lippert says only the lower part of one bank is being considered for use and the project could actually improve the look of the area. City council has given staff the okay to hold a public open house for an OCP land use designation amendment from public and institutional and parks and open space to residential-high density.
Council has been taking a look at a proposed multi-family complex in the 5700 block of Pleasant Valley Road, right by Vernon Creek. Staff says the 206-unit complex would include some three- and fourplexes and have no age restrictions. First and second reading have been given to an OCP amendment to change the land from rural residential to medium density residential. A public hearing will be held in council chambers on September 12th at 5:30 pm.
