Scooter mishap puts woman in hospital

Failure to pay attention at an intersection has resulted in a woman suffering injuries after a vehicle ran into her scooter as she was crossing the street.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to the find the collision had pushed over the scooter, sending her and her nine year old companion to the pavement. "The person on the scooter was taken to hospital with injuries to her neck and back as a result of being knocked over." says Vernon RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk.  "There was a nine year girl walking with the woman who was hit as well, but she was uninjured."  The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. Saturday in Vernon, at the intersection of 43rd Ave and 27th St and it is possible that the early evening sunshine could have played a factor.  "The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for failing to yield for a pedestrian," says Molendyk.
